How many people can stay at Grotto Grove?

Up to six. There are two bedrooms, a king with its own fireplace and a queen, and one and a half bathrooms. It suits couples and small groups of friends best.

Can we use the fireplaces?

Yes. The wood stove in the living room and the fireplace in the king bedroom are both working fires, and guests use them.

No, Grotto Grove does not take pets. Marcus’s Serene Sanctuary, a few miles away in Mountainhome, does.

How far is Grotto Grove from Skytop Lodge?

About six minutes by car to Skytop Lodge, eight to Buck Hill Falls and fifteen to Promised Land State Park.

Yes. The area is quiet and spread out with little public transport, so groceries, restaurants and breweries are a short drive. There is free parking at the house.

Is there a minimum age?

The cabin does not take parties travelling alone under the age of 25.

A cabin made for doing very little

Grotto Grove is a two-bedroom cabin on six private acres in Barrett Township, deep in the Poconos woods and six minutes from Skytop Lodge. Inside it is warm wood, white walls, art and plants: a wood stove in the living room, a fireplace in the king bedroom, shelves of books and a record player waiting for the first side.

This is a cabin where you light the fire. A cast-iron wood stove stands against the brick in the living room, and the king bedroom has a fireplace of its own, facing the bed. One guest called them her favourite thing about the whole stay.

We had a magical stay in Barrett Township! The house was perfectly curated with beautiful, tasteful decor. The setting was lovely, hidden in the woods. The fall leaves made it even more special. Our favorite thing was the fireplaces in the house; we really enjoyed them in the cool evenings.

A trail from the door to the creek

The land is the point. A walking trail leaves from the cabin and winds down to the creek, bird feeders hang outside the big picture window, and there is a hammock, a fire pit and a grill for slow afternoons. You probably will not see many people out here.

Beautiful and peaceful home and surroundings! Private, plenty of outdoor walking trails. Lots of places to sit outdoors for tea, coffee or reading. Birds and local wildlife. Simple elegant interior decor with lots of books. Plenty of plants indoors and out. Very Hemingway in the best way possible.

Within half a mile it is trees, quiet homes and the odd winding driveway: residential, not touristy, and very still. You will want a car, since groceries, restaurants and breweries are a short drive rather than a walk, but there is no traffic and parking at the house is easy.
